About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Co-op position for the Fall 2026 term. You will work on-site in Madison, Wisconsin, focusing on Lean manufacturing and industrial engineering projects. You will learn and teach Lean principles, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to the Madison Transformation Plan.
What you'll do#
- Support daily management and short-term problem solving.
- Lead long-term projects and kaizen events.
- Develop processes to improve safety and efficiency on the anesthesia production line.
- Transform the production and flow of test assembly stations.
- Incorporate the Heartbeat Business System into operations.
- Improve work sequences, work content, material handling, and work-in-process inventory.
- Teach Lean tools such as 5S, visual management, setup reduction, value stream mapping, standard work, and error-proofing.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at an accredited college or university in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Operations Management.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical problems clearly.
- Ability to work both independently and within a diverse team.
- Strong initiative, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Creative problem-solving abilities.
- Prior intern or co-op experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated analytical and leadership skills.
