About the role#
The Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op position is based in Añasco, Puerto Rico. This is a full-time, on-site role spanning from January to December 2027. You will work alongside manufacturing engineers and mentors to support daily operations, continuous improvement initiatives, and technical problem-solving in a medical device environment. This program provides hands-on experience with process optimization, equipment performance, and project management while you collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Supply Chain, and Automation.
What you'll do#
- Support daily manufacturing operations and troubleshooting activities.
- Contribute to projects focused on productivity, yield improvement, waste reduction, and operational excellence.
- Collect, analyze, and present manufacturing and process performance data.
- Assist in root cause investigations and corrective actions using structured methodologies.
- Update engineering documentation, including procedures, drawings, work instructions, and technical reports.
- Participate in equipment qualifications, process validations, and verification activities.
- Support the implementation of new technologies and automation initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, and quality system requirements.
- Promote a safe working environment and participate in safety initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least your freshman year at an accredited university.
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Ability to work on-site in Añasco, Puerto Rico for the duration of the 2027 term.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Experience with engineering projects, laboratory work, or research is a plus.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Minitab, and data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau is preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
- You must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for future visa sponsorship.
