    About the role#

    As a data engineering intern, you will build and modernize the data tools, infrastructure, and pipelines that enable teams to work with data at scale. You will work alongside technical leaders to apply your Python and SQL skills to projects while learning best practices and modern engineering tools.

    What you'll do#

    • Build foundational data tooling and infrastructure designed to scale.
    • Modernize legacy data pipelines using Python, SQL, and the company data platform.
    • Troubleshoot data quality issues in large, imperfect datasets.
    • Apply data engineering practices to move, transform, and validate data across systems.
    • Build reliable, efficient data workflows.
    • Learn from senior technical leaders.
    • Collaborate with engineers and interact directly with stakeholders to deliver solutions.
    • Use AI-enabled development tools to improve quality and efficiency.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in an associate, bachelor’s, or graduate degree program in computer science, data engineering, information systems, statistics, math, or a related field.
    • Classroom or work experience writing SQL, including joins, aggregations, and troubleshooting query performance.
    • Classroom or work experience coding in Python for data processing, scripting, or automation.
    • Working knowledge of relational database and data modeling concepts, including schema design and dimensional or star-schema modeling.
    • Comfort using AI tools such as Claude, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
    • Enrollment at a college or university within a 250-mile radius of Omaha, Nebraska.
    • Understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, cloud data platforms like AWS, Snowflake, or Redshift, pipeline orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, dbt, or Apache Spark, and version control with Git or GitHub are preferred.
    • Eligibility to work in the United States. This position does not provide visa sponsorship.

    Location & details#

    • This is a full-time, 12-week internship for the summer of 2027.
    • You will work 40 hours per week.
    • The role is hybrid, requiring on-site work at the Omaha office Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Friday.
    • The position pays $25 to $30 per hour.
