About the role#
As a Site Reliability Engineer Intern, you will work with experienced engineers to maintain and improve the performance of Gallup's global platform. You will gain hands-on experience with observability, automation, and incident response while contributing to real projects.
What you'll do#
- Build and improve observability using tools like Dynatrace and PagerDuty to monitor AWS applications.
- Create dashboards, alerts, and metrics to provide real-time insight into system reliability.
- Support automated alerting workflows that integrate with Slack.
- Shadow and assist with incident response to learn how issues are detected and resolved.
- Write scripts and automation to reduce repetitive operational tasks.
- Collaborate with a team of site reliability engineers, DevOps engineers, and software developers.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an associate, bachelor’s, or graduate degree program in computer science, MIS, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge or experience with AWS or another cloud platform.
- Basic knowledge or experience with Windows or Linux server administration, networking, or infrastructure.
- Classroom or professional experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform, Docker, Amazon ECS, or GitHub.
- Enrollment at a college or university within an 80-mile radius of San Francisco, California.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week for 12 weeks during the summer of 2027.
- Eligibility to work in the United States. We do not provide visa sponsorship.
- Exposure to monitoring or incident management tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, or PagerDuty is preferred.
- Anticipated graduation between August 2027 and May 2028 is preferred, though 2029 graduates will be considered.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time summer 2027 internship.
- The role is based in San Francisco, California.
- You are required to work on-site at the San Francisco office Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Friday.
