About the role#
As a software engineer intern, you will contribute to the technology behind digital experiences that deliver Gallup research and analytics to a global audience. You will join active engineering projects, work alongside experienced developers, and solve technical problems. This role involves writing code, testing new ideas, and learning how to turn concepts into functional technology.
What you'll do#
- Build and enhance customer-facing applications across the front end and back end using TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Python, and SQL.
- Contribute to products that help Gallup acquire and engage customers.
- Explore how AI and emerging technologies create smarter, personalized experiences.
- Turn ideas into proofs of concept to determine where new technology creates value.
- Tackle engineering challenges by evaluating options, developing solutions, and improving work through testing and iteration.
- Collaborate with engineers and other partners to design, build, and improve high-quality software.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an associate, bachelor’s, or graduate degree program in computer science, MIS, or a related field.
- Experience coding in TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Python, SQL, or another development language through classrooms, projects, or work.
- Aptitude in programming analysis, design, and creative problem-solving.
- Curiosity about AI and emerging technologies, with an interest in experimenting with new tools.
- Enrollment at a college or university within an 80-mile radius of San Francisco, California.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week for 12 weeks during the summer of 2027.
- Eligibility to work in the United States. This position does not provide visa sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The pay rate is $45 to $50 per hour.
- You must be able to work on-site at the Gallup San Francisco office Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Friday.
- There is potential to continue working up to 20 hours per week during the school year, depending on business needs.
- Candidates graduating between August 2027 and May 2028 are preferred, though 2029 graduates will be considered.
