About the role#
This clinical placement offers hands-on experience within a dialysis health care team. You will work under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian to provide medical nutrition therapy. This role follows an established education plan to help you gain practical skills in a clinical setting.
What you'll do#
- Conduct nutrition interviews with patients.
- Calculate diet prescription recommendations.
- Provide nutrition counseling to patients or their designated caregivers.
- Assist the registered dietitian with developing and implementing nutrition plans of care.
- Create nutrition projects for patients or staff, such as educational handouts, bulletin boards, or lobby activities.
- Review monthly nutrition data and practice writing progress notes.
- Attend interdisciplinary team and quality assessment meetings.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics.
- Current enrollment in a Dietetic Internship or a university-based Coordinated Program in Dietetics accredited by ACEND.
- Ability to work without supervision from a family member.
