About the role#
This clinical placement offers students the opportunity to work within a dialysis health care team. You will function under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian to provide medical nutrition therapy. The role requires adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements. You will work on-site in Valley, Alabama, on a full-time, paid basis.
What you'll do#
- Conduct nutrition interviews with patients.
- Calculate diet prescription recommendations.
- Provide nutrition counseling to patients and caregivers.
- Assist the registered dietitian with the development and implementation of nutrition plans.
- Collect data for comprehensive interdisciplinary assessments.
- Practice writing monthly nutrition progress notes.
- Create nutrition-related projects for patients or staff, such as educational handouts or lobby activities.
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, or current enrollment in an accredited Coordinated Program in Dietetics.
- Strong customer service skills.
- A desire to deliver quality care to patients.
- Ability to travel between assigned facilities and locations within the community.
