About the role#
This clinical placement offers hands-on experience within a dialysis health care team. You will work under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian to provide medical nutrition therapy. The role follows an agreed education plan and involves working in a health care facility environment.
What you'll do#
- Conduct nutrition interviews with patients.
- Calculate diet prescription recommendations.
- Provide nutrition counseling to patients and caregivers regarding renal diets.
- Assist registered dietitians in developing and implementing nutrition plans of care.
- Collect data for comprehensive interdisciplinary assessments.
- Review monthly nutrition data with patients.
- Practice writing nutrition progress notes.
- Create nutrition projects for patients or staff, such as educational handouts or lobby activities.
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Dietetic Internship or a university-based Coordinated Program in Dietetics accredited by ACEND.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics.
- A desire to deliver superior care to patients.
- Ability to travel between assigned facilities and various locations.
