About the role#
This co-op position supports research, design, and manufacturing activities for NxStage medical products. You will work within the R&D team to build samples, perform testing, and support system or hardware engineering projects. This is a full-time, paid role based on-site in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the design and development of new medical equipment and updates to current products.
- Assist with project phases to solve complex technical problems.
- Debug existing products and develop reliability improvements.
- Document all analysis, design, and testing activities to ensure they meet design controls.
- Investigate the feasibility of new systems and approaches.
- Support product engineering, integration, and evaluation.
- Identify and address design or process shortcomings.
- Follow internal and external standards, quality regulations, and good manufacturing practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program for Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- Familiarity with analog, digital, and microprocessor circuitry.
- Basic knowledge of schematic capture and printed circuit board software.
- A beginning understanding of system design, manufacturing processes, and the integration of electronics, mechanical parts, and software.
- Excellent technical communication skills and attention to detail.
- A constructive approach to teamwork and collaboration.
- A demonstrated interest in the pharmaceutical or medical device industries.
- A commitment to performing tasks with quality and integrity.
- An entry-level understanding of medical device product development is preferred.
