About the role#
We are hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern for our Melbourne, Florida office for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid internship lasting 10 to 12 weeks. You will work alongside experienced engineers and consultants to support the analysis, design, and implementation of electrical systems for various building projects. You will gain hands-on experience by contributing to real project work, supporting budgets, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
What you'll do#
- Assist with electrical system design portions of projects in accordance with code and company standards.
- Research commercially available equipment resources.
- Coordinate design and schedules with architectural, structural, mechanical, technology, and equipment suppliers.
- Document design decisions, client meetings, and instructions while monitoring project progress.
- Maintain client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record files.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final checks.
- Prepare and issue addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations and other contract services.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field.
- A strong interest in design consulting.
- Previous exposure to CAD or BIM software.
- Proficiency with the MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Clear oral and written communication skills for interacting with individuals and groups.
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
