About the role#
The Investment Strategy team acts as the bridge between our Investment Committee and our clients. You will work directly with this team to gain exposure to our investment platform, which includes public equities, fixed income, and alternative investments. Your primary goal is to help us track market activity and explain why it matters to our advisors and clients. This is a full-time summer internship based in our San Francisco office.
What you'll do#
- Track markets, economic developments, portfolio positioning, and performance.
- Identify specific market developments that are relevant to advisors and clients.
- Help write weekly and monthly market commentary.
- Assist in the creation of quarterly strategy and fund reviews.
- Prepare investment updates and other materials for advisors and clients.
- Research questions regarding performance, investment themes, and individual strategies.
- Synthesize research findings into clear, actionable takeaways.
- Analyze portfolio and market data to create charts, exhibits, and concise written commentary.
- Evaluate investment products, strategies, and industry trends to summarize their implications for Freestone.
- Attend Investment Committee, portfolio manager, and strategy meetings to observe how we form investment views.
What you'll need#
- You are a rising senior pursuing a degree in Finance, Economics, or Investments.
- A clear interest in finance as a career path.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.
- A well-rounded academic background with strong performance in challenging courses.
- The ability to manage projects independently and handle tight deadlines under pressure.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A team-oriented character, a strong work ethic, and close attention to detail.
- A high energy level and a positive attitude toward new challenges.
- Professional poise and strong oral and written communication skills.

- Term: Summer 2027.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: This is a paid position with an hourly wage of $28 per hour. A lunch stipend is provided Monday through Thursday.
