About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Montgomery, Alabama. You will work directly with the Quality and Food Safety Manager to apply core safety and quality assurance principles in a manufacturing environment. This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with regulatory standards and operational procedures.
What you'll do#
- Support food safety and quality assurance initiatives, including HACCP, FSMA, and environmental monitoring.
- Perform daily quality checks such as product measurements, sensory evaluations, sifter tailing, and pH/TTA testing.
- Conduct weekly food safety inspections and shelf-life studies.
- Complete the Preventive Controls Qualified Individual Certification.
- Monitor thermometer calibration and manage customer complaint reporting.
- Observe existing processes to create and update standard operating procedures.
- Assist with preparations for customer and regulatory audits.
What you'll need#
- You must be a rising junior or senior pursuing a 4-year degree in Agriculture, Food Science, Bakery Science and Management, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to solve problems and analyze data effectively.
- Foundational knowledge of food safety and quality assurance practices.
