About the role#
The Gern laboratory at the Center for Global Infectious Disease Research is looking for a student to assist with daily operations and ongoing research projects. You will work within a team investigating immune responses to tuberculosis. This role involves both routine laboratory maintenance and active participation in experimental design and execution. Training for specific techniques will be provided.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate the day-to-day operation of the lab.
- Assist lab members with experiments and interpret results.
- Perform advanced confocal microscopy techniques.
- Manage a small rodent colony.
- Set up immunological assays.
- Handle lab organization, supply ordering, and record keeping.
- Conduct genotyping, including DNA extraction, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
What you'll need#
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Currently enrolled in high school, college, or university pursuing an undergraduate degree.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment to address tasks and projects.
- Majors in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or Chemistry are preferred.
