About the role#
AXQ Capital is looking for a Quantitative Research Intern to join our team in New York for the Summer 2027 term. You will work directly with senior researchers and portfolio managers on projects meant to trade in live markets. This is a full-time, 12-week internship for students graduating in 2027 or 2028. Strong performers may receive a full-time return offer.
What you'll do#
- Develop and refine quantitative trading strategies with guidance from experienced researchers.
- Use probability, statistics, and machine learning to find patterns and predictive signals in market data.
- Use agentic AI workflows to speed up the research cycle, including hypothesis generation and automated backtesting.
- Clean and process raw datasets to create inputs for alpha discovery.
- Explore portfolio construction and optimization techniques to build risk-managed strategies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student at a top-tier university in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
- A strong foundation in probability and statistics, specifically in time-series analysis and statistical modeling.
- Proficiency in Python for research and data analysis.
- Intellectual curiosity and the ability to work well in a team environment.
