About the role#
Thomson Reuters Labs is seeking an Applied Scientist Intern to join a global, interdisciplinary team. You will work on real-world challenges by applying Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing techniques to support our products in legal, tax, accounting, government, and news. This internship runs from January 11, 2027, to July 12, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the entire model development lifecycle, including building, testing, and delivering high-quality solutions.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team and partner with colleagues across the globe.
- Contribute ideas and explore new approaches to solve complex problems.
- Work with large datasets to discover new capabilities and insights.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program in a relevant discipline or a Master’s program with research experience.
- Experience with Natural Language Processing or Machine Learning methods, including Large Language Models.
- Experience with model training, fine-tuning, and evaluating experiments.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages, preferably Python.
- Experience with ML/NLP libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, spaCy, LangChain, and HuggingFace.
- Ability to work with unstructured datasets and knowledge of data cleaning and processing techniques.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
