About the role#
The Commodity Merchandising Internship offers hands-on experience in agricultural commodity merchandising. You will work with experienced traders and merchandisers to gain insight into grain marketing, trading, and market analysis. This position provides exposure to the full value chain, including procurement, transportation, and supply chain activities. You will work on a real-world business proposal and present your findings to leadership at the end of the term.
What you'll do#
- Learn merchandising terminology, business systems, and tools.
- Analyze local and global agricultural markets to evaluate price factors.
- Support the team with market research, data analysis, and customer relationship management.
- Monitor crop and economic conditions to gather relevant information.
- Collaborate with operations, logistics, accounting, and customer service teams.
- Develop and present a business proposal based on a real-world opportunity.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Agriculture, Business, Finance, Economics, or related fields.
- Preference for rising juniors or seniors.
- 0-2 years of relevant work, internship, leadership, or agricultural experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build professional relationships.
