About the role#
The Nursing Student Technician provides direct care for patients under the guidance of the healthcare team. You will support unit operations and assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients and their families. This is a full-time, on-site role based in New Hyde Park, New York.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct care for an assigned group of patients.
- Assist with the admission and discharge processes on the unit.
- Obtain and document vital signs like blood pressure, pulse, and weight.
- Respond to patient requests and call lights.
- Perform clinical tasks such as EKGs, specimen collection, and simple wound dressings.
- Help patients with activities of daily living and safe transfers.
- Communicate pertinent patient observations to the nursing team.
- Maintain a comfortable and therapeutic environment.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Enrollment in the final year of a BSN program.
- Completion of a fundamental of nursing course with a clinical practicum.
- Current AHA Basic Life Support certification.
