About the role#
As a Nursing Student Technician, you provide direct care to a designated group of patients. You work alongside the healthcare team to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. This role involves performing clinical tasks such as EKGs, collecting specimens, and assisting with activities of daily living. You share accountability for patient outcomes while gaining hands-on experience.
What you'll do#
- Assist with patient admission and discharge processes.
- Obtain and document vital signs like temperature, blood pressure, and weight.
- Perform delegated patient care procedures, including simple wound dressings.
- Communicate pertinent observations to the Registered Nurse and the wider healthcare team.
- Respond to patient requests and call lights.
- Help move and transfer patients using proper body mechanics and equipment.
- Report significant changes in a patient's condition to your supervisor.
- Maintain clear written and verbal communication with staff and families.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Enrollment in the final year of a BSN program.
- Completion of a fundamental of nursing course with a clinical practicum.
- Current AHA Basic Life Support certification.
