About the role#
ProFound Therapeutics is seeking a motivated Co-Op to join the Cardiovascular, Metabolic & Neuroscience team. You will work under the supervision of senior scientists to gain hands-on experience in in vitro cell-based assays. This position is designed to complement your academic training with exposure to industry research and therapeutic development. You will contribute to a multidisciplinary team focused on discovering new therapeutics and validating therapeutic targets.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with senior scientists on ongoing cardiovascular, metabolic, and neuroscience projects.
- Culture, differentiate, and maintain human primary cells and cell lines.
- Assist in developing and testing functional assays for low-, mid-, and high-throughput applications.
- Support disease-relevant readouts, including mitochondrial function, endothelial permeability, glucose uptake, and lipolysis.
- Prepare reagents for functional assays and screens.
- Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data at team meetings.
- Organize and maintain experimental records in Benchling.
- Report experimental plans and results to the scientific team.
- Review literature to contribute to new ideas and methods.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in biology, biomedical sciences, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- Coursework or research experience in mammalian cell culture and basic laboratory techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Preferred: Prior industry or academic research co-op experience.
- Preferred: Familiarity with microscopy, imaging-based assays, or cell-based assay development.
- Preferred: Experience with data analysis using GraphPad Prism and Microsoft Excel.
- Preferred: Coursework or research exposure to metabolic, cardiovascular, or neurological disease biology.
Location & details#
- Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts.
- Term: January 2027 to June 2027 (Winter and Summer 2027).
- Modality: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5 days on-site.
- Eligibility: This position is open exclusively to current Northeastern University Co-Op students.
- Compensation: $25 - $35 per hour.
