About the role#
Join F&G as a Summer 2027 intern to support the Life Underwriting Operations department. You will help ensure and improve underwriting practices to meet product pricing mortality goals. This role reports to the Manager of Underwriting Implementation.
What you'll do#
- Analyze underwriting results by applying your knowledge of risk assessment processes.
- Prepare and monitor underwriting metric reports and join discussions on mortality results.
- Administer the Post Issue Monitoring underwriting audit program to support risk management.
- Assess how risk management tools impact underwriting philosophy.
- Use underwriting data to help answer business questions.
- Identify process improvement ideas to increase efficiency.
- Complete ad hoc projects as needed.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an MBA or a bachelor's degree in risk management or a business degree specializing in insurance.
- Completed coursework in basic life insurance risk concepts.
- Understanding of risk management and underwriting philosophies.
- Experience with advanced analytical decision making and critical thinking.
- Strong technical, organizational, and team skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Initiative and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience with Tableau and Pivot tables is preferred.
