About the role#
As a Student Optician at Pearle Vision, you will support our team in delivering eye care services to the local community. This is a part-time, on-site position in Thunder Bay. You will work under the guidance of a licensed Optician to gain practical experience in an optical retail environment.
What you'll do#
- Greet customers promptly and help them understand how to shop at our store.
- Assist customers with selecting frames and lenses that match their lifestyle, prescription, and budget.
- Take and record measurements and perform adjustments or fittings under the direction of an Optician.
- Ensure finished eyewear meets quality standards and customer requirements.
- Troubleshoot vision issues and repair eyewear to improve comfort.
- Educate customers on product features, guarantees, and proper eyewear care.
- Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally.
- Process transactions using the cashier terminal and input data into our software system.
- Maintain store displays and inventory to keep the location clean and organized.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Current registration in a provincial licensure program or equivalent schooling.
- Previous experience in optical or retail settings.
- Knowledge of provincial licensing guidelines and current optical theory.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Familiarity with computers, calculators, and cash registers.
- An awareness of current fashion trends.
- Interpersonal skills such as patience and a friendly, caring attitude.
- Prior sales training is helpful.
