About the role#
Equitable is hiring a Co-op Student to join the Compliance team as an Anti-Money Laundering Anti-Terrorist Financing (AML/ATF) Analyst. This role supports the Compliance department in managing the AML/ATF program across all business units. You will help ensure the company meets regulatory requirements through alert investigation, client screening, and process documentation.
What you'll do#
- Investigate due diligence monitoring alerts, reports regarding high-risk clients, and suspicious transaction reports.
- Perform daily scanning of clients and beneficiaries against sanctions, terrorist lists, and adverse media.
- Remediate alerts generated from daily screening.
- Document and maintain procedures for the AML/ATF program, including exception reporting and investigative processes.
- Assist in the development of AML/ATF training materials for business units and the Compliance team.
- Manage highly sensitive materials with strict confidentiality and privacy.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a formal post-secondary co-op program (proof of enrollment is required).
- Strong research, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience using spreadsheet and database software.
- Knowledge of life insurance and investment products is an asset.
- Experience with AML/ATF systems or designing and monitoring controls is an asset.
Location & details#
- Location: Waterloo, Ontario.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Work Modality: Hybrid. This position requires working in the office for a minimum of two consecutive days every other week, plus one additional assigned day per month.
- Compensation: This is a paid position.
