About the role#
The Public Policy Fellow works with staff to advance and defend LGBTQ policy. This position supports advocacy at the Florida Capitol, including research, legislative tracking, and coalition engagement. You will also assist with local policy organizing campaigns.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate logistics and scheduling for 2027 Pride at the Capitol, including training sessions and lawmaker meetings.
- Research and draft public education documents.
- Track priority legislation and conduct lawmaker research.
- Communicate with legislative staff about policy priorities.
- Support grassroots and coalition organizing efforts.
- Assist local partners with policy campaigns.
- Support cross-departmental engagement in public policy programs.
What you'll need#
- Interest in civil rights, policy, or politics.
- Strong skills in event planning and organizing.
- Ability to stay organized and detail-oriented.
- Strong analytical and writing skills.
- Comfort communicating professionally with a diverse audience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Occasional weekend and weeknight availability.
- Reliable internet and a computer with video capabilities.
- Legislative experience is preferred but not required.
- Majors in Political Science, Public Health, Human Resources, Sociology, or Communications.
Location & details#
- This is a remote role, though there is a preference for candidates available in Tallahassee, Florida.
- This is a paid fellowship at $15 per hour.
- You will work up to 15 hours per week.
- The term runs from September 29, 2025, to April 16, 2027, with a break from December 12, 2025, through January 6, 2026.
