About the role#
EMS-Tech is seeking an Electrical Engineering intern to join the team in Belleville. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site. You will work on large-scale bulk material handling equipment, including conveyor systems and stacker-reclaimers. The internship lasts 12 to 14 months, beginning in May 2027.
What you'll do#
- Interpret conceptual designs and perform analysis to meet project specifications.
- Size and select electrical components like transformers, switchgear, motors, and control centers.
- Execute PLC and HMI programming, VFD drive parameter settings, and field device programming.
- Perform lighting calculations and develop hand calculation methods to verify your work.
- Use E3 Wireworks or AutoCAD to produce 2D drawings that meet company standards.
- Apply knowledge of standards such as CEC, NEC, IEEE, IEC, ABS, Lloyds, and DNV.
- Prepare and check general arrangement and detail drawings.
- Write technical reports for equipment and component inspections.
- Use Excel to build analytical skills and apply engineering science to daily tasks.
What you'll need#
- You are a rising Electrical Engineering student entering your 3rd or 4th year of study.
- Ability to commit to a 12-14 month internship.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Capacity to communicate effectively across different business units and management levels.
Location & details#
- Location: Belleville, Ontario.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
- Term: May 2027 through May 2028, with the possibility of extension to August 2028.
- Work Modality: On-site.
