About the role#
This Civil/Structural Engineering Internship is a full-time, paid position based in Burnaby, British Columbia. The program runs for 12 to 14 months, starting in May 2027. You will work on-site Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Please note that the role requires spending two months at the Ontario head office.
What you'll do#
- Take conceptual designs and complete analysis and calculation details.
- Develop 2D and 3D CAD drafting skills while producing drawings to company standards.
- Gain exposure to equipment, systems, and design methods specific to bulk material handling.
- Use structural modelling software and finite element analysis techniques.
- Perform hand calculations to verify structural modelling and finite element analysis.
- Size and select mechanical components such as shafting, bearings, gearboxes, reducers, couplings, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform member and connection checks.
- Use spreadsheet programs like Excel for analytical tasks.
- Build an understanding of basic welding principles and procedures.
- Prepare and check general arrangement and detailed drawings.
- Apply engineering science to daily tasks and perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- You are a Civil Engineering student in your 3rd or 4th year of study.
- You are willing to commit to a 12-14 month internship program.
- You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- You demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills.
- You can work both independently and as part of a team.
- You communicate effectively across business units and with different levels of management.

- Compensation: $25-$30 per hour.
