About the role#
As an Electrical Engineering Co-op, you will contribute to the development of electrical systems for ESTAT Actuation's electroadhesive brakes and clutches. You will work on custom robotics components, power and control boxes, and laboratory test-stands. We prefer students who can commit to two 6-month rotations to ensure you can make lasting contributions to our projects.
What you'll do#
- Design custom robotics components and translate designs into production files.
- Build and maintain laboratory test-stands and program robotic test equipment.
- Manage the supply chain by placing orders and performing quality control on incoming and outgoing parts.
- Test electroadhesive clutches, perform test-to-failure, and conduct statistical analysis.
- Draft CAD models and perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Assist with patent drafting and machine parts in our shop.
- Represent the company at conferences and visit Air Force Bases for acceleration sled testing.
- Use tools including ECAD, PCB design software, MATLAB, Python, and C++.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Electrical Engineering program, with Junior or Senior standing preferred.
- Mastery of electrical engineering fundamentals.
- Exceptional hands-on experience.
- A self-motivated approach and a strong eye for detail.
- Ability to work as a team player.
- Willingness to share experiences of trial and error, failure, and victory with humility and positivity.
