About the role#
ESTAT Actuation is a startup focused on electroadhesive robotic components like clutches, brakes, and latches. As a Test Engineer co-op, you will gather performance data and contribute to the development of laboratory test stands. You will work on projects that span from initial design to final testing. ESTAT prefers students who can commit to two 6-month rotations to ensure meaningful project contributions.
What you'll do#
- Gather performance data for electroadhesive brakes and clutches.
- Develop and use laboratory test stands.
- Program a robotic test stand and perform statistical analysis.
- Draft CAD models and perform FEA.
- Machine parts in the company machine shop.
- Perform test-to-failure procedures on components.
- Assist with patent drafting.
- Represent the company at a major conference.
- Visit a supplier factory or an Air Force Base for acceleration sled testing.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering.
- Preference for Junior or Senior standing.
- Hands-on experience working with electrical systems.
- Mastery of the basics in your field of study.
- Self-motivated mindset and a team-oriented approach.
- Ability to share stories of trial and error with humility and positivity.
