About the role#
This is a paid internship based in our corporate actuarial team. You will work with our Actuarial Operations and Predictive Analytics teams. Depending on business needs and your performance, you may have the opportunity to continue working with us in a part-time capacity after the internship concludes.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Actuarial Operations and Predictive Analytics teams on projects.
- Perform basic analysis and gather information for team projects.
- Organize data into spreadsheets and databases.
- Communicate project updates, key findings, and results of your analysis to actuarial leaders.
- Develop an understanding of insurance operations, data management, and computer programming.
What you'll need#
- You are pursuing a degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related field.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
- Knowledge of statistics and probability.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, investigation, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Power BI is preferred.
- Familiarity with R, SAS, SQL, or Python is preferred.
Location & details#
- This role is located in Des Moines, Iowa.
- The schedule is hybrid, requiring three days in the office per week.
- This is a full-time position with rolling start dates.
