About the role#
This position is a multi-skilled role responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of equipment at Hydro stations. You will support the safe and reliable generation of electricity by performing preventive maintenance, project support, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems. This role involves both indoor and outdoor work and requires adherence to strict safety procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols.
What you'll do#
- Perform monitoring, testing, and performance checks on mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair pressure transmitters, RTDs, valve positioners, and actuators.
- Prepare, set up, and conduct plant equipment performance testing.
- Monitor equipment performance through data analysis and report abnormalities in the work order system.
- Perform minor mechanical maintenance on valves, pumps, and motors.
- Operate powerhouse cranes, hoists, forklifts, and trucks.
- Utilize computers to manage timesheets, complete training modules, and update work orders.
- Understand and enforce BES, FERC, and NERC compliance requirements.
What you'll need#
- An Associate degree in Electronics or Electrician training with 3 years of related experience, or a High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of related experience.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Experience reading electrical diagrams, schematics, and one-line drawings.
- Demonstrated knowledge of PLCs.
- Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic applications.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work at heights, in confined spaces, or from suspended platforms.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to live within a 30-mile radius of the assigned station.
- Ability to pass the Plant Operator Selection System (POSS) and Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) assessments.
- Ability to pass a physical and a background check for NERC CIP compliance.
