About the role#
DOWL is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern to join our Bozeman team for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position where you will work alongside experienced professionals on various engineering projects. You will receive one-on-one mentorship while gaining hands-on experience in design, analysis, and field work. You may also have the opportunity to collaborate with our Water and Environmental, Transportation and Structures, and Construction Related Services groups.
What you'll do#
- Assist with field investigations, alternative solution analysis, and project design.
- Perform engineering calculations to support design projects.
- Calculate construction quantities from plans and specifications to estimate costs and tabulate bid items.
- Provide drafting support using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Assist with writing and editing technical reports and construction specifications.
- Prepare and maintain project correspondence and records.
What you'll need#
- At least one year of college-level course work toward a baccalaureate degree in civil engineering.
- A valid driver's license.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Strong communication skills to interact with clients and co-workers.
