About the role#
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician Intern to join our team in Billings for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid internship focused on materials testing. You will work alongside experienced technicians to gain exposure to real-world engineering practices and industry standards.
What you'll do#
- Perform testing in the laboratory on soil, asphalt, concrete, and aggregates.
- Work in the concrete room to prep and test concrete cylinders, cores, masonry blocks, and prisms.
- Handle data entry, record keeping, invoicing, and test reporting.
- Perform maintenance and calibrations on both laboratory and field equipment.
- Calculate test data under the supervision of lead technicians and the laboratory supervisor.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering or related degree program.

- Note: This position requires the ability to work extended hours, including weekends and evenings, during the construction season.
