About the role#
DOWL is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term in Helena, Montana. This full-time, paid position offers the chance to work alongside experienced professionals on various civil engineering projects. You will receive mentorship while contributing to design packages and gaining hands-on experience in transportation planning and design.
What you'll do#
- Assist with field investigations, analysis of alternative solutions, and project design.
- Perform engineering calculations to support design projects.
- Calculate construction quantities from plans and specifications to tabulate bid items and estimate construction costs.
- Provide drafting support using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Assist with writing and editing construction specifications and technical reports.
- Prepare and route project-related correspondence and maintain records.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year of college-level coursework toward a baccalaureate degree in civil engineering.
- A valid driver's license.
- The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
