About the role#
Electric Transmission Field Operations offers a hands-on internship for a System Protection Field Engineer at the Lincoln Park district office. This role focuses on power systems, protective relaying, and field engineering. You will work alongside experienced field engineers and technicians to maintain critical components that ensure the reliable operation of the electric grid.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of protective relay systems.
- Participate in the maintenance and troubleshooting of substation communication systems.
- Engage in field inspections and hands-on technical work with experienced engineers.
- Learn how protective systems safeguard grid reliability and respond to faults.
- Collaborate with professionals across engineering and operations teams.
What you'll need#
- Full-time student status in an ABET accredited Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related program.
- Expected graduation date of Winter 2027 or later.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Basic knowledge of engineering concepts, fundamentals, and theory.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- Compensation: $23.00 to $29.00 per hour.
