About the role#
The Electrical Engineer Internship provides hands-on experience in the wholesale building materials industry. Based at our corporate office in Oklahoma City, you will work with experienced engineers on real-world projects, gaining technical insights into electrical systems and manufacturing equipment.
What you'll do#
- Research, design, develop, test, and maintain electrical equipment and systems.
- Assist in the design of electrical components and conduct analysis to ensure reliability.
- Work with Design Build Firms to define mechanical and automation requirements for new and expanding aggregate plants.
- Oversee the development of greenfield sites, including plant pad sites, railroad spurs, and power distribution.
- Manage project quality, budgets, and schedules while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Estimate project costs using historical data and vendor information.
- Foster a safe work culture across all project levels.
What you'll need#
- Working towards a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a similar field.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong engineering and technical skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and reading comprehension skills.
- Ability to multi-task under time constraints and apply analytical tools.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and spend extended periods working outside.
- A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs and ladders, and navigate uneven surfaces.
- Preferred: Experience in mining or the aggregate industry, exposure to AutoCAD or Tekla, and knowledge of 3 phase high voltage power distribution, MCC, and electric drives.
