    About the role#

    As a Hardware Engineering Co-op on our Connected Water Team, you will support the development of digital products through hands-on work with embedded systems and hardware. You will report to the engineering manager and work directly with project teams. We structure this role to help you build skills in test methodology, debugging, and documentation that apply to your future career. You will take ownership of specific tasks and test processes, and we encourage you to suggest improvements to our current methods.

    What you'll do#

    • Solder, rework, and modify through-hole and surface-mount assemblies for prototypes and test fixtures.
    • Assemble and wire test fixtures, harnesses, and benchtop setups.
    • Program, flash, and bring up circuit boards to verify power rails and signal integrity.
    • Execute electrical, functional, and reliability tests and document the results.
    • Investigate test failures by isolating issues and reporting findings.
    • Write and maintain basic test scripts and data-logging routines.
    • Operate and troubleshoot bench equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, and power supplies.
    • Produce PCB layouts for test fixtures and design revisions.
    • Review schematics and layouts for manufacturability and testability.
    • Manage the engineering lab inventory, equipment calibration program, and workspace organization.
    • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures and technical documentation.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
    • Demonstrated hands-on experience from coursework, senior design, competition teams, or personal projects.
    • Excellent soldering skills, including work with small components and SMT rework.
    • A foundational understanding of analog and digital circuits.
    • Ability to read schematics and interpret datasheets.
    • Methodical work habits and clear written communication skills.
    • Familiarity with microcontrollers, embedded systems, and electronics lab equipment.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.

    • Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: $22.00 per hour.
    • Employment type: Part-time, rolling term.
