About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship position based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, for the Summer 2027 term. Interns will gain hands-on project experience by working alongside professionals on water resources engineering projects. The program includes professional development workshops, networking events with staff and leadership, and a collaborative summer-long group project.
What you'll do#
- Assist with water quality and wastewater modeling tasks.
- Participate in drainage design and stormwater management projects.
- Collaborate with team members to solve engineering challenges.
- Engage in professional development workshops and networking opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of water quality modeling, wastewater modeling, and water quality regulatory issues.
- Knowledge of floodplain delineation, stormwater management, culvert and bridge hydraulics, and drainage design.
- Proficiency in MS Office software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Previous internship experience is preferred.

- Location: Virginia Beach, Virginia.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $18.75 to $29.75 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
