About the role#
Dewberry is seeking a Water Resources Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term in the Fairfax, Virginia office. This role provides an opportunity to work alongside professionals on complex projects while applying current technology to client challenges. Interns are assigned meaningful work similar to the responsibilities of full-time staff.
What you'll do#
- Gain hands-on project experience and develop technical skills.
- Apply classroom knowledge to real-world engineering problems.
- Participate in professional development workshops, including career planning and assessments.
- Engage in a summer-long group project focused on firm strategy.
- Network with staff and senior leaders across the organization.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of water quality and wastewater modeling, as well as water quality regulatory issues.
- Understanding of floodplain delineation, storm water management, drainage design, and culvert and bridge hydraulics.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office software.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Previous internship experience is preferred.
