About the role#
Dewberry is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern for our Peoria, Illinois office for the Summer 2027 term. You will work with a project team to assist in the design of building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. This is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Prepare mechanical engineering calculations.
- Create reports, construction drawings, specifications, budgets, and project schedules.
- Work under the supervision of a registered Professional Engineer.
- Collaborate with project team members, clients, and contractors.
- Manage quality control and maintain attention to detail throughout the design and construction process.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a similar field.
- Between 0 and 2 years of experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Certification as an Engineering Intern (NCEES) is a plus.
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, MS Word, and MS Excel is helpful.
- Previous internship experience with a consulting engineering firm is preferred.

- This role is based on-site in Peoria, Illinois.
- Occasional travel may be required.
