About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations as you prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow company SOPs at each workstation.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and facilitate medication changes.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities.
- Contribute to a high-performing team and growth mindset.
- Deliver additional patient health care services.
- Complete licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse vaccine reactions.
What you'll need#
- Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Ability to work in your home store and across the market in other locations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
