About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice while preparing for a future role as a pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to deliver quality care while developing your professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and pharmacy workflow procedures, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering to counsel under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes where permitted.
- Deliver patient health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients about vaccines and monitor for or respond to adverse reactions.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries and performing cycle counts.
- Provide coaching and training to team members to share best practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or in the process of obtaining one.
- 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations in the market as needed.
