About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a pharmacist. This position involves working directly with pharmacy teams to support operations, patient care, and clinical services under the guidance of a preceptor.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams with prescription fulfillment and follow standard workflow procedures at every workstation.
- Provide empathetic patient care, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details as needed.
- Deliver health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, including monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Assist with basic inventory tasks like cycle counts, medication stocking, and returns.
- Mentor and train other pharmacy team members while contributing to a safe and inclusive work environment.
- Review and collect patient information to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to work on-site in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
- Willingness to become immunization certified is preferred.

- Location: Rockford, Illinois.
- This is a part-time, paid internship.
- The role follows a rolling term structure.
