About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role focuses on gaining hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations while preparing you for a future career as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team with safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Offer counseling and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members while sharing best practices.
- Manage basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and putting away deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients about vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market.
