About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will follow a structured training roadmap designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist. This role involves working under the direction of a preceptor to gain a comprehensive overview of pharmacy operations while supporting the team in delivering safe and accurate patient care.
What you'll do#
- Follow company standard operating procedures at every workstation to assist Pharmacists and Technicians.
- Manage pharmacy workflow for prescription fulfillment, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off tasks.
- Engage with patients to provide empathetic service, field medical questions, and solicit medical history.
- Handle telephonic prescriptions and coordinate with prescribers to clarify or change orders.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members to share best practices.
- Complete inventory tasks such as processing deliveries, cycle counts, and returns-to-stock.
- Deliver health services including immunizations and point-of-care testing, subject to training and legal requirements.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws regarding pharmacy operations and patient privacy.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service environment.
- Ability to obtain immunization certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Flexibility to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market as needed.
