About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by focusing on safe, accurate, and efficient pharmacy services.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences.
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures for prescription fulfillment at all workstations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by providing empathetic care.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and facilitate medication changes where permitted.
- Coach and mentor pharmacy team members.
- Perform basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and returns.
- Deliver patient services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status to support vaccine administration.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including traveling to other locations.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and privacy regulations.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
