About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide a first-hand look at pharmacy operations. This role focuses on developing your skills in preparation for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and activities.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations such as production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients, including offering immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and returns.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Capability to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Strong attention to detail, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain mobile for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
