About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school training to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role focuses on gaining hands-on experience with pharmacy operations while preparing you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by offering support and empathy.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and communicate with prescribers.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, such as immunizations, and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws regarding patient privacy and safety.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- 1+ years of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong communication, mathematical reasoning, and problem resolution skills.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
