About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist. This role involves gaining an overview of store, district, and regional operations while working under the direction of a preceptor.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on the brand promise.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately by following company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and call prescribers to clarify orders or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Deliver additional patient health care services, including immunizations, where allowable by law.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks for extended periods and pivot between duties to meet patient needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations across the market as needed.
