About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience with pharmacy operations. You will support the pharmacy team to ensure prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly while developing your skills for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and collect medical history.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and call them to clarify orders or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities like cycle counts, returns, and stocking.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, upon obtaining Technician Immunizer status.
- Educate patients on vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and stand for extended periods.
