About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role is designed to prepare you for the responsibilities of a Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and assist with medication changes where permitted.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts, returns, and stocking medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching and training to pharmacy team members to share best practices.
- Support immunizations where permissible, including educating patients and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations across the market as needed.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- 1+ years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
