About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between your classroom education and real-world clinical practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience in pharmacy operations while preparing for the responsibilities of a Pharmacist. This role focuses on delivering safe, accurate, and compassionate care to our patients while developing your professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Complete a structured training roadmap to build clinical and operational aptitude.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly and safely.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by offering empathy and care during interactions.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Perform basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and processing deliveries.
- Support patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends, and the ability to travel to other store locations within the market as needed.
